Manufacturers and Suppliers of Floating Roof Tanks in Dubai, UAE

Tech Hard Oilfield Supplies FZE is a leading stockist, supplier and distributor of internal roofs , external floating roofs , Aluminium Geodesic Domes and seals, which fully complies with API 650 standards. Floating roofs are to eliminate the evaporation losses of stored products, such as jet fuels, gasoline, diesel and crude oil. In addition to our floating roof’s cost-effective benefits, they also protect the environment by not releasing toxic gases to the atmosphere. Our floating roofs are easy to install. They are manufactured in small pieces to fit from the storage tank manhole covers. You do not need a special tool and cutting for the installation.

Floating Roof Storage Tanks

Floating roofs have been designed and used for more than a century. Floating roof tank allow the explosive gases in petroleum tanks to vent to atmosphere in a safe way. Today controlled gas venting in to the atmosphere is becoming more and more important due to environmental regulations. Compared to fixed roof storage tanks, fuel loss due to evaporation in floating roof tanks is considerably less. Floating roofs are installed inside the fixed roof storage tanks, which enables the roof to rise and fall based on the level of the fuel. As such design creates a no-vapor zone between the fuel level and the floating roof, the fuel evaporation is minimized.

There are Generally Two Types of Floating Roof Tanks :

1. Internal Floating Roof Tank

2. External floating Roof Tank

Internal Floating Roof Tank

Internal Floating Roof Tank has both, a permanent fixed roof and a floating roof inside. There are two basic types of internal floating roof tanks: tanks in which the fixed roof is supported by vertical columns within the tank and the tanks with a self-supporting fixed roof and no internal support columns

Tanks initially constructed with both a fixed roof and an internal floating roof may be of either type. An internal floating roof tank has both a permanently affixed roof and a roof that floats inside the tank on the liquid surface (contact deck) or is supported on pontoons several inches above the liquid surface (non-contact deck). The internal floating roof rises and falls with the liquid level.

Internal Floating Roof

Tech Hard Oilfield Supplies FZE is a major supplier of internal roofs and seals, which fully complies with API 650 standards. We provides full contact internal aluminum panel, and pontoon type floating roofs to eliminate the evaporation losses of stored products, such as jet fuels, gasoline, diesel and crude oil. In addition to our floating roof’s cost-effective benefits, they also protect the environment by not releasing toxic gases to the atmosphere.

Type of Tech Hard Internal Floating Roofs:

1. Pontoon Type (Non-Contact Type)

2. Full Contact Type (Sandwich Panel, Honey Comb & Megafloat)

 Advantages of Internal Floating Roof:

  • Reduce product evaporation loss
  • Reduce potential for vapour space explosions and Fire hazards
  • Better peripheral sealing and lower seal cost
  • Cost effective initial investment
  • Long service life
  • No normal maintenance requirement
  • 100% aromatic protection available
  • Complies with API 650 Appendix H standard
  • Compatible with all stored products: Crude oil, Naphtha
  • Designed to access all components through the manhole
  • Reduce potential for vapour space explosions and fire hazards
  • Preserve the environment
  • Better peripheral sealing and lower seal cost
  • Cost effective initial investment

External Floating Roof Tank

A typical external floating roof tank consists of an open-topped cylindrical steel shell equipped with a roof that floats on the surface of the stored liquid, rising and falling with the liquid level. The floating roof is comprised of a deck, fittings, and rim seal system. Floating roof decks are constructed of welded steel plates and are of three general types: pan, pontoon, and double deck. The liquid surface is covered by the floating deck, except in the small annular space between the deck and the shell; the deck may contact the liquid or float directly above the surface on pontoons.

External floating roof tanks are equipped with a rim seal system, which is attached to the roof perimeter and contacts the tank wall. The rim seal system slides against the tank wall as the roof is raised and lowered. The floating deck is also equipped with fittings that penetrate the deck and serve operational functions. The external floating roof design is such that evaporative losses from the stored liquid are limited to losses from the rim seal system and deck fittings (standing storage loss) and any exposed liquid on the tank walls (withdrawal loss).

External Floating Roof

External Floating roof commonly used for tank which require to store large quantities of petroleum products such as crude oil or condensate. It consists of an open- topped cylindrical steel shell like a roof that floats on the surface of the stored liquid. The EFR rises and falls with the liquid level in the tank. As opposed to a fixed roof tank there is no vapor space in the External floating roof tank (except for very low liquid level situations). In principle, this eliminates tank breathing loss and greatly reduces the evaporative loss of the stored liquid. There is a rim seal system between the tank shell and roof to reduce rim evaporation.

The roof has support legs hanging down into the liquid. At low liquid levels the roof eventually lands and a vapor space forms between the liquid surface and the roof, similar to a fixed roof tank. The support legs are usually retractable to increase the working volume of the tank.

Types of Tech Hard External Floating Roofs:

1. Pan Type

2. Pontoon Type

3. Double Deck Type

Advantage of External Floating Roof:

  • External floating roof provide an open cylindrical steel storage tank for storing volatile petroleum products such as crude oil, gasoline or kerosene.
  • The external floating roof rises or falls with the liquid storage level.
  • There is a central drainage system on the floating roof to ensure that the accumulated water can be discharged smoothly in rainy and snowy days to avoid sinking accident.
  • The space between the decks is separated into liquid-tight compartments.
  • Superior loading capacity.
  • Eco Friendly.
  • Cost Effective.

Dome Roof Tank

Dome roof tanks have the heavier type of deck used in external floating roof tanks as well as a fixed roof at the top of the shell like internal floating roof tanks. Domed external floating roof tanks usually result from retrofitting an external floating roof tank with a fixed roof.

As with the internal floating roof tanks, the function of the fixed roof is not to act as a vapor barrier, but to block the wind. The type of fixed roof most commonly used is a self supporting aluminum dome roof, which is of bolted construction. Like the internal floating roof tanks, these tanks are freely vented by circulation vents at the top of the fixed roof. The deck fittings and rim seals, however, are basically identical to those on external floating roof tanks.

Dome Roof

Environmental regulations governing petroleum and chemical storage have been recognized worldwide and more strict policies are demanded to reduce hazardous Vapor emissions. Finding cost-effective ways to address these regulations is a top priority for storage tank facilities. Dome roof has provided environmental efficiency, protected stored products and reduced maintenance costs, and its reputation has been built on its economic budget, light weight, and simple installation.

Dome Roof are fully in compliant with ISO EN 090, API650, AWWA and ASCE7 specification. Highly modular and standardized design gives chance to compete with any supplier on project pricing. Light-weight construction allows covering large diameter without intermediate support.
